Linda, I read everything you write. This time, good perspective on the health care mess.

It stays messy because there is so much money to be made by the oligarchs. Someday, probably not in my lifetime, America will decide that the health of the general population has more value than the wealth of a few.

It's just one more plank in what I think should be the new platform of the Democratic Party. Actually, I think the Democrats have been so complicit in this construct of myriads of plans and intentional complexity, it wouldn't be crazy for us to change the name of the party to the "Economic Justice" party.

Of course, as you have pointed out so many times, we could jump start a new not for profit system by learning from other countries (oh, no! we're exceptional /s).

I'd start with simply expanding the currently efficient and well run Medicare program to all young people. Then add those that are 55 or older. And then as they have been absorbed, go all in.

Bernie Sanders was right all along.

There is a lot to learn from other countries. Another example would be how Australia handles voting (mandatory) and retirement planning.
